🎁 Seasons Greetings! Here are our upcoming holiday hours.
Once upon a time, there was a local community bank that was acquired by a much larger bank. This could have been the end of the story, as it is for many small banks, but thankfully our adventure continues.
Soon after the acquisition of the community bank, three of its community bankers realized that as part of the larger bank, they could no longer serve their customers in the personal, tailored way they were used to. Refusing to see the demise of true community banking in their area, they set out on their own. They talked to friends, family, business contacts and community members to raise capital and gain support in hopes of starting a new local bank that would keep community at the center of all their decisions.
Through tenacity, determination and buy-in from the community, Wolf River Community Savings Bank was chartered in 1996 with humble beginnings in a mobile home on Main Street in Hortonville, WI. A group of local business people were recruited as the Board of Directors and the bank’s small staff was tasked with a big goal – grow the bank and serve the community.
With the Wolf River as the bank’s namesake, the founders had intentions of serving several of the communities along and around the banks of the Wolf River, and today, we are doing exactly that. Wolf River Community Bank has grown into four branch locations in the Fox West region of Wisconsin, serving countless families, businesses, municipalities and non-profits with banking that’s based on relationships versus the bottom line. Employing over 50 staff members, Wolf River Community Bank has become a pillar in its communities, supporting school districts, emergency services, civic organizations, environmental programs and food pantries, among others, through sponsorships, donations and volunteerism.
Today, Wolf River Community Bank continues to grow and evolve in an effort to provide secure banking, exceptional service, convenient technologies and lasting customer relationships that are the foundation the bank was built on.
It’s amazing to see what three bankers were able to accomplish with a big dream and strong perseverance.
Be proud of where you bank and rest assured that your dollars are being reinvested into the community, helping someone buy their first car, allowing a family to purchase their dream home or helping an entrepreneur get their business off the ground.
